Tapping head sets are used in machine tapping applications. Often supplied as a complete set containing all the essential tools to operate and adjust the tapping heads. Here at Cromwell we stock a range of tapping head sets from supplier Indexa.
Tapping head sets have an adjustable torque control which will protects against tap breakage and tap overload. It has an auto-reverse which withdraws the tap without the need to reverse the machine spindle.
Sets often contain a range of tool that are used in conjunction with the tapping heads such as rubber-flex collets, morse arbors, kick bar and wrenches contained in a protective carry case.
• Shank size - Tapping head sets are available in different shank sizes. Usually displayed in unit of measure MT (morse taper) MT3, MT4 etc.
• Compatible tap size - Tap sizes are shown as a range capacity of nominal sizes for example M2-M7 or M8-M20 and is dependent on tap shank dimensions (ISO or DIN).
How can I prevent misalignment?
To avoid misalignment the work piece should be mounted on the machining table ensuring the hole to be tapped in co-axial to the machines spindle centre line.
